Tóm tắt The continuous incorporation of various gadgets into the classroom has changed the learning experience for many students, especially in an English as a Foreign Language (EFL) class. While smartphones, tablets, and laptops offer new and interesting ways to learn, they also pose a risk of distraction that may divide students’ attention. This research analyzes the comprehensive effect of electronic devices on EFL students’ engagement, retention, and attention by reviewing secondary literature. This paper aims to answer the question of whether gadgets are helpful tools or harmful distractions in EFL classrooms through a thorough analysis of pertinent literature.
