Tóm tắt This article explores the pedagogical integration of Google Translate (GT) in an English–Vietnamese translation classroom within a transnational undergraduate program in hospitality and leisure management. Positioned as a scaffolded tool rather than a substitute for human translation, GT was introduced through a series of profession-specific tasks designed to develop students’ critical post-editing skills, domain-specific vocabulary, and intercultural communication competence. Drawing on classroom-based reflections, the study highlights how GT can support lexical comprehension, translation drafting, and collaborative editing—particularly when applied to authentic materials such as hotel standard operating procedures, travel brochures, promotional texts, and guest communication scripts. While students benefited from enhanced engagement and improved technological awareness, challenges included overreliance on machine output and difficulty identifying nuanced errors without guidance. To address these issues, the instructional approach emphasized structured post-editing exercises, peer collaboration, and critical analysis of GT’s limitations. The study concludes that the thoughtful integration of GT into translation pedagogy can effectively prepare students for real-world translation workflows in the global hospitality industry, provided that its use is critically mediated and aligned with the development of foundational translation skills. Recommendations for instructional design and curriculum integration are also provided to guide future practice.
